Sharing Our Hearts To Build a Shared Future
Living, growing up, learning, dreaming -
There are children who cannot take these things for granted,
They are not in faraway lands, but in our Asian neighbours.
Their daily lives are filled with hardships - lack of food,
untreatable sicknesses, limited opportunity to learn, and countless other hardships.
To make things better, we must look squarely at the root causes of these problems.
At FIDR, we engage in frank and open dialogues with local people.
We keep working together to bring about change in the status quo.
With time, the local people will build a better future at their own initiative.
When this happens, the children will also be able to go through
their lives with confidence in their future possibilities.
The circle of people joining hands to bring about transformation is growing across borders.
Please join us!
Let’s share our hearts and build a shared future for the children.
FIDR works with two missions to improve the lives and welfare of children in developing countries.
To pursue our mission, we engage in three programs: "International Cooperation for Social Development" " Emergency Response and Rehabilitation Assistance" and "Public Relations and Education”.
Create a sustainable development structure by solving root problems
International Cooperation for Social Development
We provide support in a wide range of sectors such as health / medical care, agriculture / rural development, food, education, nutrition, and industrial development.
Support victims in disaster-stricken areas to overcome the difficulties of evacuation without any damage to their physical and mental health
Emergency Response and Rehabilitation Assistance
We deliver emergency and reconstruction support to the victims of natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons and floods.
Communicate and think about various issues to open up the future
Public Relations and Education
We work to gain the understanding and cooperation of a wide range of about FIDR and its projects.
FIDR was born in April 1990. It was a time of major changes in world affairs, including the collapse of the Cold War structure and the outbreak of the Gulf War, as well as various problems such as worsening famine in developing countries, refugee outflows, and environmental degradation.
The international community increasingly expected Japan, which had come to exert an unprecedented influence on the global economy, to contribute to developing countries through assistance. The Japanese private sector also became increasingly willing to extend a helping hand overseas.
FIDR was established as an incorporated foundation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a donation of 300 million yen from Mr. Tojuro Iijima, the founder of Yamazaki Baking Co., Ltd. as its main asset. FIDR was established to provide careful support to developing countries.
