Our official name is the Foundation for International Development/Relief as an international cooperation NGO established in 1990 to improve the lives and welfare of children in developing countries. We also name us as "FIDR" from the first word of name.
In Southeast and South Asia, where FIDR operates, there are still people who cannot escape from poverty and children who have to give up their potential in life.
As countries economically grow, actually their existence have been more overlooked.
FIDR picks up the voices of these people and works with many individual /cooperation donors to solve the problems of the most effective impact.
In Cambodia, Vietnam, and Nepal, where we mainly engaged, economic development has been progressing, however, the disparities within and among countries and regions are becoming serious.
Children living under these severe disparities face various difficulties in their daily lives, such as a lack of access to safe drinking water, no nearby doctor when they become sick, and no schools even if they want to study.
These issues related to poverty are complicated, and the poor government services and infrastructure, as well as the social structure, are major constraints for the local peoples in solving their problems.
FIDR works with local people to identify what is needed to create a society in which children can grow healthy. We approach from a wide range of perspectives, combining the expert insights with the experiences of other countries and regions.
In our activities, we make maximum use of local resources, including human resources, knowledges and experience, and socio-cultural resources. We also place the highest value on the ownership of local people and organizations, encouraging them to take the initiative.
With over 30 years of practical experience in Asian countries and the trust of local people, FIDR is able to provide effective solutions.

By participating in the various training programs conducted by FIDR, I am now able to harvest more rice and vegetables than before, and I am able to earn enough income to support my family. There has also been a significant change in the nutritional status of the children in the village. I think this is because mothers have started to make complementary food and feed their children using the methods they learned during the training. I would like to continue to utilize what I learned from FIDR to improve not only my own life but also the lives of others in my village.

FIDR has a different concept to support compared to other aid organizations. There are many organizations that bring what we don't have or tell us what to do. But FIDR is different. They focus on improving our knowledge and skills, accompany us, and wait for us to realize and make our own decisions.
